| KOALA PACK |
Koala Pack was registered with 15 Cub Scouts on 25th November 1980 with Robert Iles as Akela, and Jean Bray, Marjorie Brisciani and Leslie Fathers as Assistant Cub Scout Leaders. The Group Leader at the time was Peter "Skeet" Plumley. The Pack met between 7.00pm and 8.30pm on Wednesdays at the Scout Hall in High Street. Judith Stewart was Group Secretary, Clemency McRae¤ the District Cub Leader and Arthur Ball the District Commissioner. At that time the Group had 58 Cub Scouts, 44 Scouts, 8 Venturers and 4 Rover Scouts. There were 7 Pack Leaders, 7 Troop Leaders, 1 Venturer Unit Leader, 1 Rover Scout Crew Leader and 1 Rover Adviser. Over the year's Koala Akelas have been Jean Bray (1980), Bob Iles (1982), Adele Ahearn (1986) and Paul Davey (1992). Eugene Duff (ACSL) remembers John "Shere Khan" Stephens placed him in the centre of the Closing Parade circle and announced Eugene's birthday to the Pack. A special birthday cake with decorations and candles was produced - the only thing wrong was that it was made of sponge rubber. The Leaders then told the Pack they were going outside for 5 minutes. Eugene still remembers what it felt like to have 20 Cubs hanging off his neck that night. Koala Pack went on a Pack holiday to Ingleside Scout Camp on the 16-18 November 1984 weekend. A shortened story about the holiday follows. ... When we arrived we were all excited. When we got inside I showed Mathew and Josh my lollies. Then we had supper. After supper we went to bed. Kim and Raksha were pacing the hall waiting for us to go to sleep. Then when they went out we all got our lollies and started talking. Then they came back in, that went on for quite some time. In the morning I woke up, no one else was up so I rumbled ... Clint. Then we got our pillows and whacked everybody over the head and then the two Venturers, we left Buldeo or he would have killed us. Then Kim came in and spoiled our fun and told us to get back into bed. |
